picking the olives

I will try to show this whole action as detailed as possible so please forgive me in advance that there will be too many pics here, okay?


























Not so long ago during The Second Intifada this city was infamous because of series spectacular acts against The State of Israel and its inhabitants. Today its more or less safe in the nearest area. All thanks to the security fence which has cut off the Israeli territory from the West Bank. The price which Palestinians had to pay for it is pretty huge. They cannot enter Israel if they have no permissions. They can stay on the Israeli territory till 5PM if they succed to receive permission. Moreover Israeli politicians responsible for the foreign policy (and those responsible for the security) misused their power and in some areas attached some parts of the West Bank to the Israel territory which caused some other troubles. Like some Palestinians villages were cut off of its olives orchards. Of course they are allowed to pick the olives but the entrance is strictly restricted. Not all of them can go and work, they have to wait in long queues, there are not enough gates in the Fence so some of the people have problems with crossing it and they have to spend a lot of time on the way to their fields. This is the price paid by the inhabitants of the West Bank for the terrorist activity of their brothers.

• 9 September 2001: Car bomb explodes at Beit Lid, carried out by the Islamic Jihad movement in Tulkarem.
• 5 October 2001: Civilian vehicle fired upon at Avnei Hefetz, killing the Israeli driver.
• 29 September 2001: Bomb planted under bed in IDF officer's home in Ra'anana, bomb discovered and disarmed.
